Horse Transport FAQ

If you are planning a horse haul, you probably want clear answers before you commit. That is exactly how we like to do business. We keep it simple, tell you what to expect, and move horses the same way we would want ours moved.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Alvin, Texas. We handle horse transport across Texas and surrounding states, and we also take nationwide routes by request. If you send us the pickup location, drop off location, and timing, we can tell you quickly whether the route works.

Do you haul mixed loads?

No. We focus on single client runs. That means your horse is not mixed in with unfamiliar horses unless you specifically approve a different arrangement. It keeps the trip simpler, quieter, and easier on the horse.

What paperwork do I need before pickup?

A current negative Coggins is required. If the trip crosses state lines, a current health certificate is usually required as well. If you are not sure what paperwork applies to your route, ask us before the trip and we will help point you in the right direction.

How do I get a quote?

The fastest way is to submit a request through our estimate page, or call, text, or email us directly. To give you an accurate quote, we need the pickup location, drop off location, number of horses, preferred timing, and any special handling details.

What is included in the quote?

We aim to give you a straight, all-in number for the haul. We also include a target pickup window, delivery timing, and any route considerations we see up front. If weather, distance, or layover needs affect the trip, we will tell you before anything is scheduled.

How far in advance should I book?

The sooner the better, especially for longer routes, weekend timing, or time-sensitive moves. Even if your timing is tight, reach out. If we can make it work, we will.

What is loading day like?

Quiet and patient. We do not rush horses, force a bad situation, or turn loading into a fight. We give them time, keep things calm, and focus on getting them on safely.

What kind of trailer setup can I expect?

We keep the rig clean and well maintained. Horses get solid footing, clean bedding, and their own space. We do not crowd them, and we do not treat the trip like a race.

What updates will I get during the trip?

We keep updates simple and useful. You can expect texts and photos at pickup, during the route, and when we are getting close. If weather, traffic, or anything else changes timing, we will let you know directly.

Do you stop and check horses on the road?

Yes. We stop on a sensible schedule to check horses, offer water and feed as needed, on long hauls, they get unloaded and walked and make sure everything looks right. If a horse needs extra attention, we deal with it then, not later.

How do you handle long-distance horse transport?

For longer trips, we plan ahead. That includes realistic timing, welfare checks, weather decisions, and rest planning when needed. If an overnight layover is the right call for the horse, we use safe, clean stall arrangements rather than trying to push through.

Can you haul nervous or inexperienced horses?

Yes, as long as the situation is safe and we know what we are dealing with ahead of time. Green horses, anxious loaders, rehab horses, and mares with foals all need a little more planning. The more we know up front, the better we can prepare.

Can you follow special feeding, blanket, or care instructions?

Yes. We want to know what your horse is used to before the trip starts. We do not change feed on the road, and we only blanket if you request it and conditions call for it. If your vet has specific instructions, send them ahead of time and we will follow the plan.

What do I need to send with my horse?

Please send a properly fitting halter, a solid lead rope, required paperwork, and any special care instructions we need to know. We also like to have real barn contacts for both pickup and drop off so there is no confusion at either end.

How do I reserve a transport date?

Once we agree on the route, timing, and price, we will move into scheduling and confirm the pickup window. From there, we stay in touch and make sure all paperwork and trip details are lined up before loading day.

How can I reach you directly?

You can reach us by call or text at 409 554 1823 or by email at dhranchtxs@gmail.com. If you prefer, you can also submit your trip details through our estimate page, and we will get back with you.
