How We Haul

How We Haul (Plain Talk)

We’re a small Texas outfit. We treat every horse like it’s ours and run a simple plan: load quiet, drive easy, keep you posted. Here’s exactly how we handle a haul so you know what to expect.

Before Pickup

  • Plan & quote: We agree on the route, target pickup/drop windows, and a straight price. No surprise add‑ons.

  • Paperwork: Current negative Coggins is required. Health certificate if crossing state lines. If you need help lining it up, say the word.

  • Feed/blanket plan: We’ll ask what your horse is used to. We don’t change feed on the road. Blanketing happens only if you request it and the weather calls for it.

  • Barn contact: We get a real person’s number at pickup and drop so there’s no gate drama.

Loading

  • Quiet and patient: We don’t chase, yank, or “win the trailer.” We give the horse time to think and step in.

  • Safe footing & space: Clean, well‑bedded floor and solid footing. Each horse has their own space. No crowding.

  • No mixing strangers (unless approved): We don’t throw unknown horses side‑by‑side without owner approval.

On the Road

  • Steady miles: We drive like there’s coffee in a full cup. Smooth starts, calm stops, no cowboy stuff.

  • Checks & water: We stop on a sensible schedule to check horses, offer water, and look them over. If a horse is sweating or restless, we address it right then.

  • Weather calls: We watch radar and wind. If storms or extreme heat hit, we adjust timing. Horse comes first, clock comes second.

  • Rest & layovers: For longer pulls, we plan real rest. We don’t push through at the horse’s expense. Overnighting is in safe, clean stalls—never tied in a trailer all night.

Arrival

  • Heads up: We call when we’re close. No surprise driveway arrivals.

  • Unloading: Calm and controlled. We don’t rush the step‑off.

  • Post‑trip check: We look over legs, breathing, and attitude. We’ll point out anything we noticed on the road.

Updates While We Roll

  • Simple, useful updates: Texts and photos at pickup, mid‑route, and an hour out. More often on longer trips.

  • Real ETAs: If traffic or weather changes arrival, you’ll hear it from us, not a tracker link.

Special Situations

  • Green or nervous loaders: We take the time. If it isn’t safe to force today, we won’t.

  • Mares & babies: Extra space, extra patience, extra checks. We’ll talk through the plan with you.

  • Injuries/rehab: If your vet has instructions, send them ahead. We’ll follow them to the letter.

What We Ask From You

  • Current Coggins (and health cert if needed).

  • Halter that fits and a decent lead rope. No old snap that’s about to fail.
